About Me

My name is Danielle. I am 25 years old and have been sewing off and on since I was 15. I have always been fascinated with sewing. When I was about two I had a sitter that sewed and would let me play on the floor and pick up pins in her sewing room. She used to let me practice some times. A two year old with a needle? Sounds dangerous huh? But, I once came across some home video that showed that even at that age I knew how to handle a needle.

I didn't actively pursue sewing until about 15 when I was watching Project Runway and it inspired me to actually try my hand at it. I started with simple things. I sewed a lot of practice scraps and tried to make a few purses which didn't come out well. I was still young hand had no idea how to really do any of this myself without someone teaching me. Youtube was basically just starting up at this point and didn't have the vast amount of tutorials and videos that it does now. I only got help from lame Geocities websites and any books I saw. I had thought about sewing classes but I was such an introvert that sewing in a room full of strangers scared me. So I put sewing down for a while after being frustrated.

When I was 18 I started seeing cute pillows being made online and figured I could do that with just the common knowledge of sewing I did have. It turned out great. I made a few really cute pillows for myself and others as gifts. I made pillows for a while until I decided that I wanted to try and branch out and make myself a costume for the Texas Renaissance Festival. The first major thing I made besides a pillow was a corset. Pretty adventurous huh? But this time around I had a huge amount of help through blogs, videos, and pattern reviews. If there was something I wasn't familiar with I looked it up and was able to follow along with the videos. I had such a satisfying experience making that outfit I was hooked on sewing.

My goal for this blog is not to gain readers or followers. It is simply to be a tool for anyone out there that needs help. If someone is working on a pattern and needs a step by step walk through or just wants to make sure its not just them having problems with a pattern I want them to be able to get the help they need. I know I am so grateful to all the online help I have received and I wanted to be able to give back to other aspiring seamstresses. I am still learning and I hope that through my experiences others can learn too!

Sewing isn't always easy but it sure is satisfying!
